MDI Global office in Brussels is the leading coordinator of the LIMENet project, aimed at enhancing local and community media across several European countries.
This initiative seeks to promote a diverse, pluralistic, and independent media landscape, in Belgium, Lithuania, Poland, Hungary, Georgia, and Serbia.
The LIMENet project will focus on empowering local media outlets by providing them with the necessary skills and resources to produce quality reporting while remaining economically viable.
With a budget of €720,000 allocated for sub-grants, the project aims to equip 80 local media outlets with innovative tools and peer networks.
This support is designed to foster collaboration and improve the resilience of local media in the face of challenges such as technological disruption and disinformation.
Key objectives of the LIMENet project include:
- Enhancing Media Access: Improving equal access to media for disadvantaged groups.
- Promoting Quality Reporting: Supporting local outlets in producing high-quality journalism.
- Building Community Trust: Strengthening the relationship between local media and their audiences.
- Fostering Democratic Participation: Encouraging active engagement in democratic processes among all community members.
