Program will bring fellows to the US to study democracy

Deadline: November 1, 2010

Region: Worldwide

Journalists from around the world are invited to apply for the chance to spend five months in Washington, D.C., to undertake independent research on democracy in a country or region.

Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellows will deepen their understanding of democracy and enhance their ability to promote democratic change.

They will reflect on their experiences; conduct research and writing; consider best practices and lessons learned; engage with counterparts in the U.S.: and develop professional relationships within a global network of democracy advocates.

The fellowships are based at the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). The next fall session will take place from October 2011 to February 2012; the next spring session will take place March to July 2012. The program is intended primarily for individuals from developing and aspiring democracies.
