Africa Media and Democracy Conference in Accra, Ghana

Interested members of the media or general public can now register for the Africa Media & Democracy Conference, to take place August 18 to 20, in Accra Ghana. The conference is also accepting paper submissions.

Under the theme “Mediating Democracy in Africa,” the conference will explore the broad effects of media on democracy through the presentations of speakers drawn from a range of political, media, and academic backgrounds. It will address the growing role of the media in many of Africa’s fledging democracies, and in particular, the role of the media in the monitoring, pollstering and nuancing of election results.

Participants are expected to register online for the conference either before or on arrival in Accra. The registration fee is US$150 for all participants and $100 for students.

Abstract deadline: April 30. Full paper deadline: May 30.
