“Colorful but Colorblind”: free training for Czech journalists to focus on minority issues

Deadline: May 12, 2010

Country: Czech Republic

Journalists from the Czech Republic can apply to take part in “Colorful but Colorblind,” a project for journalists aimed at promoting the creative use of multimedia in reporting minority issues, to take place June 7 to 11. Deadline to apply: May 12.

The project will focus on remedying anti-Roma stereotyping in the media. Ten journalists from the Czech Republic (half Roma, half from the country’s majority), will attend an intensive week-long training workshop in Prague.

The training will focus on the skills and techniques needed to produce professional audio-driven slide shows and video stories, covering equipment and best practices for content gathering and editing. The training will include numerous assignments, both in the classroom and in the field.

The project is being run by Transitions Online (TOL), a Prague-based media development organization.
